DS/ 2-people series
Dirk Sanner began his artistic career at the age of 27 with waterscapes, followed by urban landscapes in which two people are usually seated on chairs against a cityscape. These paintings symbolize the artist's friendship with Max Schmidt-Craghs, a former student of famous Joseph Beuys, with whom he appears to be sitting. Since the death of his friend in 2010 some of the pictures contain only one chair with a single person or sometimes show one empty chair for the missing friend.
