Max Schmidt-Craghs
*June 9, 1935 in Duisburg
1949-52 Apprenticeship as a painter and decorator in Duisburg, graduating with a journeyman's certificate
From 1953 Travels and journeyman years, including time spent in Spain and southern France
1964-1970 Permanent residence in Berlin, began studying philosophy
From January 1971: Began studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Professor J. Beuys
July 1975 Appointment as master student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy
Graduated October 1978
1979 Founding of the "State-approved and non-profit art education center AUXILIUM-GmbH"
Activities as a partner, managing director, artistic director and lecturer at Auxilium
From 1983 onwards, teaching activities in various institutions and work as a freelance artist.
Study trips to the French Provence, ending in 2002.
Max Schmidt-Craghs died in his apartment in Düsseldorf on the night of August 6th/7th, 2010, after a serious illness.
